About Me

Vernon HowardI’m a “Internet” Geek…Anything that has to do with Web Design, PHP, Ajax, Adobe Flash (ActionScript), JavaScript, MySQL databases & Search Engine Optimization. If it’s used to create a web site… it interests me.

I originated from Brookfield, CT and have lived all over New England as well as a short stint in the U.K. I attended Western Connecticut State University located in Danbury, CT where I honed my design skills through their graphic design and computer science departments. Since then, I have worked as an in-house designer for a number of local businesses while simultaneously maintaining my own business as a freelancer. I currently serve as the digital marketing manager for a human capital SAAS provider located in Norwalk, CT. My duties there consist of up keeping the company web sites, landing page development, user interface development, print advertising, business print collateral, social media marketing and S.E.O.. Don’t scrutinize this site too bad though… my stuff often lacks my attention, LOL.

I have many interests besides web design. I’m an avid reader and burn through about a book every two weeks, I read so much I purchased a Amazon Kindle and haven’t regretted the purchase yet. Some of my favorite authors are Clive Cussler, Daniel Silva and Ken Follet. I also dabble in photography and I’m a big history buff. I love reading anything to do with ancient civilizations… so I also like museums and watching the history channel. You can see some of my pictures from my travels here. I’ve been to many spots in the U.K., as well as Dublin, Venice, Brussels, Ghent, Brugge, Amsterdam and Paris.

I also enjoy day trips to NYC or weekend getaways to VT. I love to travel and my favorite spot is London, England (I have friends there), but if I had to pick another it would have to be Amsterdam (Last time is a bit fuzzy)…LOL.In the states I’m a Bar Harbor, ME fan. Love the fresh air and Acadia National Park is beautiful.

I’m honest to a fault, speak my mind, a bit stubborn and very down to earth. I live a pretty simple life… work, work, work ,eat & sleep…LOL. Trying to do LESS work, but doesn’t seem to ever happen. Good thing is, I love what I do, so it’s not really work to me. I’ve been told I’m wiser then my age. I guess that’s a compliment. A few things I’ve learned thus far and will share with you…

  1. Life is what YOU make of it. You get what you give.
  2. Going against the grain should be a lifestyle. Just because everyone else is doing “it”, doesn’t mean you have too. Think for yourself and question everything!
  3. Take the road less traveled as often as you can. You never know who you’ll meet and what great things you will discover and experience.
  4. Don’t worry about conforming to societies standards. Be yourself. Those that matter will love you for it, those that don’t… don’t matter.
  5. Always see the positive in everything you see and do. Even if you screw up… failures are just opportunities in disguise.
  6. Scratch that itch. Don’t look back and wonder “what if?” You only get one chance at this life so embrace it and challenge yourself whenever you can.

Oh, and why ElementGeek you ask? Well, it’s pretty simple. I’m a Geek and I own a Honda Element… What better car could there be (Mobile Toaster) for a <!–Geek–>?!

Stick around, come back and visit often and comment as you wish.
